“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house upon the rock”
In 2019, we made the decision to surrender and fully trust God. I cried out to God to save me, save my marriage and save my family and with full surrender God answered my prayers. One of the best decisions I have ever made was to surrender to HIM and to declare this at an altar call of a local church in December 2019, which we have attended ever since. Within the next few months of 2020, God spoke to us about rebuilding our family on Him and only Him.
Roll on 2020, the year of NZ lockdowns. The uncertainty, worries and fears of Covid19 took over the world and with its chaos, this also became a blessing in disguise as God shut us away from the world to rebuild our family and rebuild our foundation on him. When God had put it on our hearts that Matthew 7:24 was to be our family verse, we knew he was speaking to us to lay a solid foundation on Him and only Him. This is our family verse that we stand on. It is through this obedience that we began to pray and build our family values based on this verse and his direction. This became our first teaching point and ministry within our marriage and with our young family in 2020; to remember who our foundation is and to take time regularly and daily to strengthen our life, marriage and family through Him.
Marriage and family life can be tough, but when you seek Him first, He will bless you and your family in ways beyond what you can imagine. Remember, God speaks to everyone differently. Ask the Lord today whether this is an area where your family or marriage needs to build stronger foundations.
